The 1st UNESCO UNITWIN Work Conference was held on 19 January 2017 at the Headquarters of Korean National Open University. The conference launched the UNITWIN Network, a programme promoting international inter-university cooperation and networking to enhance institutional capacities through knowledge-sharing and collaborative work.
Founding members Korea National Open University, the Open University of Malaysia, Hanoi Open University, and the Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (under UNESCO) met and discussed the importance of improving higher education through shared goals and the responsibility of network institutions and academic institutions across the world by engaging together in projects related to the Sustainable Development Goal 4.
The next Network annual conference will be held in Seoul again at the second half of the year, where the results of projects and efforts made through the network will be reviewed and discussed. Meanwhile, the next conference in 2018 will be hosted by the Open University Malaysia.
