The AAOU Executive Committee has approved via circulation the proposal for the contract renewal with Emerald Publishing Services for the AAOU Journal  through an online referendum sent on 28 September 2018. The said proposal aims for the AAOU Journal to increase international authorship, continue usage increase, implement developments in marketing and promotion strategies, and receive ranking support from Emerald Publishing Services in terms of being well-indexed, besides the publication of articles. The target in the coming years is for the AAOU Journal to be Scopus-indexed, then ESCI-indexed as well. To achieve this, there is a need to publish a total of 20 articles (10 articles per issue) annually.

With the progress achieved through Emerald Publishing Services, the AAOU hopes to realize these objectives towards a more visible and impactful Asian Association of Open Universities Journal.
