The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Indonesia has officially decided to reappoint Prof. Ojat Darojat, M.Bus., Ph.D. as the Rector of Universitas Terbuka (UT) for the service term of 2021-2025 in an inauguration ceremony led by Nadiem Makarim, the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology in August.
Prof. Ojat takes up the UT’s Rector position again as he had previously completed the same job in the 2017-2021 tenure. Prof. Ojat was elected through UT’s Rector Selection process done by the UT’s Senate chaired by Prof. Dr. Chanif Nurcholis, M.Si. and the representatives of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology on 30 March 2021.
The UT’s Rector selection process began in February 2021 with four nominated UT’s Rector candidates. Previously, the incumbent UT’s Rector, Prof. Ojat Darojat, M.Bus., Ph.D., presented a speech on strengthening the academic dignity in digital ecosystem before an open senate meeting last March. Prof. Ojat stated that the UT’s outreach has successfully been able to increase the gross enrolment rate or angka partisipasi kasar (APK) of colleges and universities.
