Open and innovative education has been rapidly developing and increasingly practised, in all higher education institutions (both conventional and online universities/colleges). The 2024 International Conference in Open and Innovative Education (ICOIE 2024) will take place on 3–5 July 2024, as one of the 35th anniversary celebration events of Hong Kong Metropolitan University. It will take place as a hybrid conference and explore key issues relevant to advancements in the area. Educators and researchers in the field are welcome to submit soon papers for oral presentation on the following areas:

- AI/VR/AR/MR in education;
- Educational technology;
- Engaging students and learning design;

- Other topics relevant to the conference.
