In support of the Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU) Inter-university Staff Exchange Fellowship Programme, the Open University of China (OUC) is offering short-term fellowships to academic, administrative, research or technical staff from AAOU member institutions for the year 2026. This programme aims to provide a platform for capacity building and establishment of sustainable partnerships as well as fostering knowledge exchange and promoting mutual understanding among staff of the open universities of Asia.

Provisions by OUC
a. A formal invitation letter for visa purposes
b. Accommodation including breakfast
c. Lunch for working days

Essential Requirements for Candidates
a. Relevant working experience in open and distance learning
b. Possessing a master’s degree or above
c. Having proficient written and oral English skills
d. Being in good health to participate in local events
Required Materials for Application (in English)
a. Curriculum Vitae including a selected list of publications
b. A research proposal for the fellowship programme, which should be a comparative study between the OUC and the applicant’s home institution. The research topic should be of the following areas:
- AI-Enabled Transformation of Teaching, Learning and Assessment
- Construction and Application of Intelligent Teaching Environment
- Big Data-Driven Teaching Decision-Making and Precise Intervention
- Effective Online Teaching Methods
c. A letter of recommendation from the head of the home institution
Personal Safety and Health (If applicable)
a. Each fellow is responsible for obtaining and paying for all necessary insurance, such as travel insurance.
b. Each fellow is responsible for maintaining personal health, safety, and belongings during the Fellowship period.
c. Medical coverage is not provided. Therefore, the fellow must make appropriate arrangements.
Fellows’ Activities and Responsibilities at the OUC
a. The nominated candidates should maintain regular electronic contact with the OUC to inform the visa application process and travel plans. The OUC will provide a formal invitation letter for visa purposes but is not responsible for obtaining visas for the selected fellows.
b. The fellows will visit and meet with relevant departments at the OUC, and engage in academic exchanges with the OUC staff.
c. The fellows must conduct their proposed research.
d. The fellows are expected to give a presentation based on the research conducted during their stay at the OUC. The presentation will also include an introduction to their own institution.
e. The fellows will submit a final report (minimum 3000 words) on the outcome of the research to the OUC at the end of the Fellowship programme.
Deferment
The successful applicants must complete the Fellowship by June 27th, 2026. No deferment will be allowed beyond this date unless relevant approval has been given.
