CLSU DOT-Uni Makes Waves for 2025 with Curriculum Advancements Aligned to Global Standards

Muñoz, Nueva Ecija, Philippines — The Central Luzon State University Distance, Open, and Transnational University (CLSU DOT-Uni) continues to chart a progressive course in higher education development, setting its 2025 aim to Curriculum Reform. It hosted a pivotal two-day workshop on March 19 and April 2, 2025, jumpstarting the series of activities that marks a significant milestone in its ongoing efforts to elevate curriculum quality and ensure global relevance across its academic programs.

The workshop, which reviewed learning outcomes and syllabus development, united faculty members and university administrators in collectively pushing to enhance the Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) and Program Outcomes (POs) of DOT-Uni’s graduate programs.

In her opening remarks, DOT-Uni Dean Dr. Elaida R. Fiegalan underscored the need for coherent and well-defined outcomes as the cornerstone of effective curriculum design.

“An effective syllabus is grounded in clear program outcomes. That’s why we aim to improve the PEOs and POs of each course to provide a better learning experience for our students,” Dr. Fiegalan said.

The first day of the workshop centered on mapping courses and revisiting PEOs and POs, which were then presented and evaluated on the second day. Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco, Vice President for Academic Affairs, strongly supported the initiative, emphasizing its alignment with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education.

The second day featured expert-led sessions by selected faculty members from key graduate programs. Dr. Lalaine Ann F. Manuel of the MS in Education Major in Mathematics program presented a curriculum plan emphasizing industry-aligned course content to enhance relevance and application.

Dr. Cesar V. Ortinero, representing the Master in Environmental Management (MEM) program, proposed incorporating collaborative, advocacy-driven projects to mirror real-world environmental engagements, particularly for DOT-Uni’s globally active learners.

Meanwhile, Dr. Carolyn Gonzales-Marzan of the Master in Business Administration (MBA) program shared insights on developing student competencies in multidisciplinary professional settings, aligning with modern business expectations.

Dr. Emil Ubaldo, the university’s resident Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) expert, reviewed the presented plans and offered detailed feedback.

“It’s essential to differentiate the outcomes of Master’s and PhD programs and align them with the Philippine Qualifications Framework,” reinforcing the university’s commitment to rigorous academic standards.

The event concluded by reaffirming DOT-Uni’s mission to deliver a globally attuned, outcomes-based curriculum that empowers students and addresses local and international educational demands. This workshop is part of a broader series of curriculum development initiatives designed to future-proof CLSU DOT-Uni’s academic programs as it prepares for a more competitive and interconnected learning landscape in 2025 and beyond.
