Netaji Subhas Open University (NSOU), India has been awarded by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with grade A in April 2021. NSOU is the first State Open University in India who receives this honour in the field of Open and Distance Learning system. NAAC assessed the university in seven criteria:
i) curricula planned, designed & development,
ii) teaching-learning,
iii) research, innovations & extension,
iv) physical facilities,
v) learner support,
vi) governance & leadership,
vii) values & best practices.
Professor Anirban Ghosh, Director, CIQA reported that a five-member NAAC Peer Team visited the university in the 1st week of April 2021. After assessing both quantitative and qualitative criteria, NSOU was given 3.05 in 4 point scale in the 1st cycle. He also mentioned that it took almost 2 years to complete the entire process of accreditation due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Professor Subha Sankar Sarkar, Vice-Chancellor, NSOU conveyed thanks and gratitude to all the stakeholders for their contribution in this achievement. Professor Sarkar also mentioned that this would be a milestone for the university that the university has been recognized by NAAC in its silver jubilee year.
