Local and Global Recognition for OUM 

Open University Malaysia (OUM) has achieved two major honours recently. First, the university emerged victorious as the Gold Winner of the Putra Aria Brand Award 2022 in the education and learning category. The award is based on a voting process conducted by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Malaysia (4As), which involved a total of 25,000 respondents. This is a major recognition of the OUM brand as one of the most recognisable by Malaysians in the field of higher education, especially open and distance learning. 

The second honour came from the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Stars Rating System, which gave OUM a 5-star rating for online learning, based on the QS Stars Online Learning Report. QS Stars assessed our ability to deliver online learning according to 7 indicators: student-faculty engagement, student interaction, student services and technology, online outsourcing, applications per enrolment, commitment to online learning and track record. The rating reinforces OUM’s standing as a university that champions open and distance learning for anyone who desires a flexible higher education. 

These two major achievements have inspired OUM to continue and increase its efforts to promote flexible education through online learning for larger segments of society within and beyond Malaysia.
