The Tuguegarao City Tricycle Riders’ Information, Security, and Satisfaction Enhancement (TC-TRISSEA) App, developed by St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP) – College of Information Technology and supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) – Region II, is set to be launched in Tuguegarao City under the local government’s leadership.
The application’s demonstration event held at SPUP on March 20, 2024, marked a significant milestone for the project and intended users. It was attended by Mr. Mariano Lim Cabugos (Head, Tuguegarao City’s Tricycle Regulation Unit), and the presidents of 32 Tricycle Operators and Drivers’ Associations (TODA), who are set to benefit immensely from the application’s deployment.
Spearheading the event were Dr. Maria Visitacion Gumabay (Program Coordinator, Information Technology and Engineering), Dr. Jesus Pizarro (Director, Planning, Research, Innovation & New Technologies), together with the App Development Team members, Mr. Carlos Babaran (Head, ICT), Mr. Rucelj Pugeda (Head, OSA) and Mrs. Sheena Gumarang (IT Faculty). The app’s developers, Mr. Angelo Peralta and Mr. Julius Cepeda (4th Year IT students) showcased their creation, highlighting the synergy between academic pursuit and practical application.
Feedback from the TODA Presidents, a critical aspect of the demonstration, was enthusiastically received. These valuable insights are set to refine and enhance the app’s functionalities, ensuring it meets the specific needs of its primary users.
Looking forward, the TC-TRISSEA app is gearing up for pilot testing in the last week of April 2024, incorporating all feature requests from the initial demonstration. The SPUP-SJ TODA community is among the eager participants in this testing phase, setting the stage for a comprehensive evaluation of the app’s impact and effectiveness.
Upon its official launch, the TC-TRISSEA app will be a monumental achievement, marking the first instance of a TODA in the Philippines implementing a dedicated app for enhancing tricycle transportation services. This initiative showcases the innovative spirit of SPUP and represents a significant leap forward in the integration of technology in local transportation systems.
